A small tropical fruit from the mangosteen family, found in parts of Japan (especially Okinawa) and Southeast Asia. It has a mild sweet–tart taste, but is less juicy and less common than regular mangosteen.

Nutrition:
Low calories, small amounts of vitamin C, fiber, and plant antioxidants.

Health benefits:

• Supports general immunity (vitamin C)
• Antioxidant properties
• Light digestive support due to fiber

How to enjoy:

• Eat fresh when ripe (if edible variety)
• Sometimes used in jams, juices, or traditional preparations
• More commonly grown as ornamental tree in Japan
